Security & Online Safety Tips

• Under NO circumstances will Amtec Design ever ask you for your password. If someone has, please report this to forumsupport@amtecdesign.com
• When creating your username and password - create something that is unique and only you would know. Do not state obvious passwords such as your favourite football team, singer or colour. Add variations such as numbers, letters or both. Never use the same password for everything - if revealed or hacked this may lead to a precarious situation!
• Never reveal any personal or confidential information online such as your full name, postal address, date of birth or any other sensitive information
• Use firewall propection, anti-virus and ad blockers to safeguard against unsavoury content
• If receiving files from an online user remember to scan the attachment with your anti-virus to prevent virus infections damaging your personal computer
• Beware of malicious email scammers - apply a junk mail filter to your email client to prevent this from happening.
• Always back up your data regularly and never store any personal details on your pc such as credit card information, bank details or private documents. We suggest using a removable storage drive with password folder protection installed to safeguard you and your information from fraud, indentity theft and blackmail.

The onus is on you to wise up to the Internet and to realise just how vulnerable you can be. The above tips are not displayed to scare you but to keep you informed of what risks are out there and how to safeguard against them. If you are armed with the correct knowledge, security and know-how you can use the Internet as a fantastic resource and learning medium.
